Privacy policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This policy explains what information Tappy, the app for Windows and Mac made by MulticoreLabs (“we”, “us”), handles, and what this website collects. In short: Tappy keeps your things on your computer, sends something to an AI service only when you ask it to, and we don't sell or share your data.

What stays on your computer

Everything you make with Tappy is stored locally on your PC, as ordinary files you can open, move or delete:

Tappy does not upload these files to us. We don't operate servers that store your captures, notes or boards, and Tappy doesn't require an account.

Text recognition

When Tappy reads the text in a picture (for example “Copy text” or “Hide private info”), it uses the text recognition built into your computer’s operating system (Windows or macOS), on your computer. Nothing is sent over the internet for this.

AI features

Tappy's AI features (such as Ask Tappy, explaining selected text, and lessons) work only when you use them. When you ask the AI something, Tappy sends your request to the AI service you've chosen, together with what the request needs, which can include:

This information goes directly from your computer to that AI service (for example OpenAI, when you sign in with your ChatGPT account or use your own API key). It is not sent to us. The AI service handles it under its own terms and privacy policy, which we encourage you to read. Where the service allows it, Tappy asks it not to store requests.

Sign-in details for AI services (such as access tokens or API keys) are stored in your computer’s secure credential store (the Windows Credential Manager, or the Keychain on a Mac), not in Tappy's files and not on our servers. Tappy never reads your ChatGPT conversations.

If you allow Tappy to click or type for you (“Do it for me”), it does so only on your computer, only while a visible banner is shown, and you can stop it at any time with Esc.

Sharing projects

If you export a project and send the file to someone, that file contains the project's content. Sharing it is your choice and happens outside Tappy.

This website

This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and it does not load fonts or scripts from other companies. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.

Email

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you and help with your request.

Children

Tappy is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

Because your data lives on your computer, you control it: you can delete captures, notes and boards at any time, and uninstalling Tappy can also remove its settings. You can stop using AI features at any time and sign out of AI services from Tappy's settings. For anything else, including questions about your rights under privacy laws where you live, contact us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we'll also tell you in the app or on this website.
